Getting started

The basics

Q.01

What does Little Leaf Horticultural Consulting do?

Little Leaf Horticultural Consulting helps people diagnose and solve plant problems. Services include plant health diagnostics, soil and substrate analysis, indoor and interior plantscaping, garden and landscape planning, greenhouse and grow room consulting, and integrated pest and disease management. Each engagement ends with a written, plain-language plan tailored to the client's plants and space.

Q.02

Who does Little Leaf work with?

Little Leaf works with home gardeners and houseplant owners, offices and businesses with interior plants, small farms and nurseries, and greenhouses and commercial growers. No level of experience is too beginner and no operation is too established. The same careful, science backed approach is used for a single houseplant and for a full production greenhouse.

Q.03

How do I book a consultation?

You can book a consultation by filling out the form on the contact page or by sending an email directly. Share what you are growing, what you have noticed, and any photos you have. Little Leaf replies to most messages within two business days with suggested next steps.

Services and process

How the work happens

Q.04

What happens during a plant health consultation?

A plant health consultation begins with questions about your goals, your setup, and the history of the plant or space. It then moves to a hands-on assessment of light, water, soil, roots, pests, and environment. You receive a written plan that names the likely cause of the problem and lists the steps to fix it, ordered by priority and explained without jargon.

Q.05

Can you help with just one struggling houseplant?

Yes. A single struggling houseplant is a common reason people reach out, and it is treated with the same care as any larger project. Little Leaf will help identify why the plant is declining, whether the cause is watering, light, soil, pests, or something else, and provide a clear recovery plan you can follow at home.

Q.06

Do you offer soil and substrate testing?

Yes. Soil and substrate analysis reviews pH, fertility, drainage, and structure for garden beds, containers, and potting mixes. Recommendations include custom mix recipes, amendments, and fertilizer guidance designed to avoid overfeeding and to set roots up to thrive.

Q.07

How do you handle pests and plant diseases?

Little Leaf uses an integrated approach to pests and diseases. The first step is accurate identification of the pest or pathogen. Control then uses the least toxic method that will work for your setting, followed by a prevention and monitoring plan so the same problem is less likely to return.

Q.08

Do you work with greenhouses and commercial growers?

Yes. Greenhouse and grow room consulting covers light, temperature, humidity, airflow, irrigation, and nutrition strategy, along with production troubleshooting. The goal is to lift quality and consistency across growing cycles while protecting yield.

Logistics and pricing

Visits, pricing, and prep

Q.09

Do you offer virtual consultations?

Yes. Virtual consultations are available and work well for many plant problems. Clear photos and a short description of the plant, its light, and your care routine are usually enough to diagnose the issue and build a plan remotely.

Q.10

Do you work with clients outside your local area?

Yes. On-site visits are offered across the local region, and virtual consultations are available to clients anywhere. If you are outside the on-site area, a virtual consult gives you the same diagnosis and written plan.

Q.11

How does pricing work?

Pricing depends on the type of consultation, whether it is on-site or virtual, and the size of the project. After you describe what you need, Little Leaf provides a clear quote before any work begins, so there are no surprises.

Q.12

What should I prepare before a consultation?

Before a consultation, gather photos of the plant or space, note your light conditions, and write down your current care routine and any recent changes. The more detail you can share, the faster and more accurate the diagnosis will be.
