Real science, patient care, one plant at a time.

Little Leaf exists for a simple reason: plant problems are solvable when you understand what the plant actually needs. We are here to bridge that gap, with knowledge on one side and genuine care on the other.

Meet the founder

Owned & operated by Madison Jenkins.

littleleaf Horticultural Consulting is owned and operated solely by female US Army veteran, Madison Jenkins. Madison earned a Bachelor of Science in Botany from Oregon State University in 2023. After an honorable discharge from the military, she went on to earn her Master of Science in Plant and Soil Sciences — with a concentration in Horticulture — from Mississippi State University in 2025.

Working alongside expert researchers with the University of Florida, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the National Park Service, and Mississippi State University, Madison conducted her thesis research on a Florida panhandle native bean, Galactia microphylla — also known as the littleleaf milkpea — from which the name littleleaf was born.

Across four years of landscape-industry jobs, Madison saw the same pattern again and again: a lack of proper planting, care, and maintenance by landscaping companies. So often we see plants and trees over-pruned, over-sprayed with unnecessary chemicals, planted where they don't belong, and a chronic waste of plant material on nearly every project.

littleleaf Horticultural Consulting hopes to close this gap by using scientifically sound methods to bridge the divide between landscaper and homeowner. Ready to turn your thumb green? Contact us today to get growing.

What we believe

The principles behind every plan.

01.

Diagnose before you treat

We never reach for a fix until we understand the cause. Guessing wastes your time and your plant's energy.

02.

Make it doable

A plan only works if you can keep it. We design routines that fit your time, your budget, and your space.

03.

Treat plants with care

Every plant gets the attention we would give our own. That care shows up in the detail of every recommendation.

04.

Tell the truth

Honest answers, even when it is "this one is not worth saving." You always know exactly where things stand.

How a project goes

Science backed, start to finish.

A clear path from first conversation to a plant that is back on track. Most engagements move through four stages.

01

Listen

We learn your goals, your setup, and the full history of the plant or space.

02

Assess

Hands-on review of light, water, soil, roots, pests, and environment.

03

Prescribe

A written plan with prioritized steps, explained in plain language.

04

Follow up

We check in as your plants respond and adjust the plan as needed.
